Rachel had always been the anchor of her home, managing every detail of her family’s life while her husband, Christopher, spent three long years working in South America. When he finally returned, he brought home a strange new habit—wrapping his arms around her waist from behind every night, something he had never done before.
When she asked who taught him to sleep like that, he pulled away, stepped onto the balcony, and lit a cigarette.
“Lorelei, there are things I don’t tell you because you simply don’t need to know,” he said coldly. “Gwen isn’t like the other women, and if you don’t make a scene, she will never have any reason to bother you. If you pretend you don’t know anything, you can still be my wife.”
Lorelei immediately demanded he choose between them, but Christopher only clenched his jaw. While away, he had spent small fortunes on his twenty-seven-year-old assistant, Gwen Vance—funding her brother’s business, remodeling her parents’ home, and attending family parties—while missing every single one of Lorelei’s birthdays. Though he promised to end the affair, Lorelei caught him on a midnight video call with Gwen, reassuring the young woman that no one would ever hurt her.
The next morning, Gwen showed up in Lorelei’s kitchen, dramatically throwing herself to the floor and crying that Lorelei had pushed her. When Christopher immediately coddled Gwen and scolded his wife, Lorelei realized her marriage had been dead for three years.
In the days that followed, Christopher completely stopped hiding his mistress. He paraded Gwen through company meetings, high-end dinners, and exclusive parties where everyone knew Lorelei was his lawful wife. Yet, he bizarrely insisted to his friends that he had no intention of divorcing Lorelei, claiming she could never be replaced—a move driven partly by his resentment toward her wealthy family, whom he felt looked down on him.
At one party, after Christopher publicly kissed Lorelei to save face, she overheard him telling his friends that Gwen was just a temporary fix and that he would eventually end it. Lorelei ensured Gwen overheard the conversation too, leaving the mistress visibly shaken.
Lorelei quietly hired a private investigator to document everything. Soon after, Gwen faked a security scare at her apartment to lure Christopher away. The investigator caught photos of them kissing on the staircase, which Lorelei had anonymously delivered straight to Gwen’s door. Predictably, Gwen’s desperate ego took the bait. As a prominent social media influencer, she publicly posted the photos to her online followers, boasting about their three-year secret love story.
The public scandal erupted, unleashing a wave of corporate backlash against Christopher. Enraged, he stormed into their house, smashing property and violently knocking Lorelei’s phone out of her hand, injuring her leg. He screamed that she was ruining his career out of jealousy.
Calmly picking up her phone, Lorelei played a newly uploaded video from Gwen’s channel showing Christopher sleeping beside her. Christopher’s face drained of color as he realized Gwen was the one who posted it. Terrified by his own destructive outburst and the exposure, he began to plead for forgiveness.
Lorelei didn’t say a word. While he was busy panicking, her legal team was already finalizing the divorce papers he never thought she would have the courage to sign. All that remained was delivering the exact conditions under which she would grant him a quiet exit.
